Welcome to the new Point25

April 12th, 2009

The new look is designed, and the site is almost finished. After choosing WordPress as our base we designed the site in illustrator using a base 32 grid. The great thing about designing in illustrator is it allows for full and complete scalability. We will be posting a full step by step tutorial on our design process soon. Stay tuned for more…

Taste in Advertising

We had smell-o-vision and aroma-rama. Then in 2007, CafeScribe announced that the reason ebooks aren’t more popular is because — wait for it — they don’t have that “book smell”. So they added scratch-and-sniff stickers to ebook devices.

So considering our fascination with wacky sensory experiences, are we really that far off from lickable advertising?

Apparently not.

Copyranter announced that Russian Standard Vodka has created the world’s first vodka-dipped advert, or “lickvert”. Gives new meaning to liquor (lick her — get it? Yeah… it’s really not all that funny…) advertising.

All right, so the notice came out on April 1st, making it a not-so-chuckle-worthy April Fool’s joke. But I ask again… are we really all that far off from lickable advertising?

Keep an eye on those perfume inserts you find in your magazines, and watch them morph. Soon, I’m betting you’ll be able to taste the chemical-laden flavor of just about anything.

And just wait until the technology comes to your computer monitor. You’ll be licking the screen of your local pizza parlor website to figure out what toppings you want in no time.

Choosing a CMS

March 31st, 2009

Choosing a CMS is never an easy thing to do. You need to weigh the level of complexity versus flexibility.

After looking into Joomla, Drupal and a few others, we’ve settled back into WordPress. Both Joomla and Drupal seemed to have far a steep learning curve. We may possibly look into Drupal7 once Mark Boulton and his team are done with the redesign, but for now, like Goldielocks we have chosen the option that is just right – WordPress.
